Inclusive Leadership — Women, Youth & Climate Leadership

Community-driven solutions in inclusive leadership — women, youth & climate leadership for Kalagala Parish and beyond.

Slide 1 of 1

What we do

Inclusive Leadership — Women, Youth & Climate Leadership

Empower women and youth as climate leaders and decision-makers in community development.

In Kalagala Parish, this sub-program addresses the specific challenges of a peri-urban area bordering Mabira Forest — where rural and urban service delivery gaps overlap, and communities face pressure on land, water, and forest resources.

Why Kalagala: The five communities (Kalagala, Kyambogo, Naluvule, Wabusanke, Byabuku) represent a "development limbo" — too urban for traditional rural programs, too rural for municipal services. CEDP bridges this gap with community-owned solutions.

Why this matters

The wider challenge behind the work

Participation is most meaningful when women, young people, people with disabilities, and other underrepresented groups can influence decisions—not only attend activities. Accessible formats, safe participation, and leadership roles matter.

External context: Uganda National Population and Housing Census 2024 — UBOS. This source explains the wider challenge; it is not evidence of FOSCOD's results.

What meaningful progress looks like
  • Progress marker 1

Participation barriers are identified during design

  • Progress marker 2

Underrepresented groups hold visible roles in decisions and delivery

  • Progress marker 3

Feedback can be given safely and changes are documented

What FOSCOD will not overclaim

Attendance is not presented as empowerment. FOSCOD distinguishes participation, decision-making roles, skills, and longer-term outcomes.
