Kayemba Patrick Chairperson
Kayemba Patrick is a Development Practitioner, Researcher, Trainer, NGO Manager, and Social Development Change Agent. He is also a political leader – currently the District Chairperson Iganga District Local Government. He holds a masters’ degree in Community Based Development and a Bachelor Degree in Development Studies. He is specialized in Policy advocacy on Sustainable Transport and Governance. Mr. Kayemba was a member of the National Bus Rapid Transit project (BRT) for Kampala Technical committee, Finance, Infrastructure and Transport Services (FITS) and a member of the Sector Working Group of the Ministry of Works and Transport. He has published on Sustainable Transport and Governance. He has over 20 years’ experience in Coordinating and Managing Development Projects. He formally worked as the Executive director of First African Bicycle Information Organization (FABIO) and later as the chairman of the same organization. He served as the Country Director- European Institute for Sustainable Transport EURIST AFRICA. Mr. Kayemba was the Chairperson of Transparency International Uganda (2012 -2016) and a member of the Standing Committee of Economic, Social and Cultural Council – ECOSOCC of the African Union (2006- 2015). He initiated and was Chairman of the Civil Society Coalition in Transport CISCOT.
Esther W Kirumira Vice chairperson
Esther W. Kirumira is a freelance social worker who has been serving the non-profit, public health and education sectors for over 18 years. The board chairperson of education and development initiative Uganda (EDI(U) in Njeru Municipality which focuses on empowering and imparting skills to women, youth, and school dropouts . She chairs the Health management committee of Namwezi Health Centre III for njeru Central Division Local Government. Her good training in Baking and secretarial studies gave her opportunities to work with different Banks, organizations and government ministries in Uganda. She has coordinated, implemented development programs of both National and international organizations.
GRACE NAKANDI KIYINGI Treasurer
Grace NakandiKiyingi is a Business Executive with six years experience in Finance and Insurance sectors. She served as a Microfinance Loans Officer at Kawempe North Microfinance – Uganda. Grace worked as the Kanyanya Church of Uganda Primary School Bursar/ Secretary before Joining the ICEA Life Assurance Company Limited as a Unit Leader. At ICEA Life Assurance Company Limited, Grace was responsible for recruiting and training agents on products knowledge, prospection, identifying service clients and market the company products through building leads and generating applications for new clients. Grace is currently the Branch Accountant for Five Talents Uganda Limited, Namirembe Branch – Uganda. She is a leader in providing timely and accurate reporting and support in identifying strategies and plans to manage the actual performance against budgets
DR DUTTA TAPATI - Board Member
Dr Dutta Dr. Tapati Dutta is a social scientist and inclusion strategist in public health with almost 25 years of blended experience in research, teaching, and service, including her widely viewed TEDx talk. Currently, Dr. Dutta is an Assistant Professor at Fort Lewis College, a Native American-serving Non-Tribal institution of higher education in Colorado, USA. Here, her taught courses cover intersecting areas of global health disparities, health systems and policies, community health, social epidemiology, community-based participatory research, program planning, monitoring, evaluation, and mixed-methods and implementation research in public health. She also mentors’ students for their internships/Senior Project. Among the college community, Dr. Dutta is mostly popular for using ‘storytelling methodologies’ in face to face, hybrid and hyflex teaching environments. She is also applauded for launching an innovative virtual global health internship inpartnership with Foundation for Sustainable Community Based Development, Uganda.
A self-described “pracademic”, Dr. Dutta has public health practice and research experience, typified by program management, scaling-up, grant writing, policy research and advocacy roles for large-scale, multi country programs to make efficacious biomedical prevention tools effective among populations who need them the most. To this, she spearheaded state-of-the-art HIV Rural Research Center in India, worked at the Rural Center for AIDS Prevention, Indiana and led bilateral-exchange programs addressing HIV, cervical cancer, and sexual and reproductive health (Female Condom and Nischay Pregnancy Test Card) among Indian, African and US- based academic, research, and advocacy organizations (IAVI, ICMR, PATH, GHS, HLFPPT, KEMRI, FSD, TASO, Aurum Institute). Her prolific international portfolio is exemplified by serving on Boards of several humanitarian organizations in the US, India, Uganda, and Myanmar (in process), plus initiating academia-practice-research partnerships between African, Asian and US-based institutions. Her body of published work in peer reviewed journals and gray literature, and presentations in conferences, webinars, and community radio reiterates her passion and dedication to foster sub-population based, equity-focused, community engagement models especially among rural and indigenous populations for improved health outcomes, and empowered relationships between the communities and health systems.Her doctoral thesis from Indiana University, USA examined community engagement as a policy imperative for vaccinations in India. She holds three Master’s Degrees in Population Studies, Human Resource Management and Social Work from Indian Universities and certifications in Participatory Research from Wageningen University, The Netherlands, and Health Education from the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing, USA.
KAKIGA RAYMOND - Board Member
Raymond is a research consultant, and a seasoned business person with over 14 years’ experience working on different projects in Uganda, South Sudan, Kenya, and Rwanda. Raymond has worked as a consultant for World Bank, IFAD, UNOPS, ENABEL, and other local organizations as monitoring and evaluation consultant in conducting endline or baseline surveys covering different subjects in Agriculture, Education, Health, and Policy research. Raymond has worked with lead government research organization (Uganda Bureau of Statistics) for two years, and currently heads a private company as a managing Director (Statworld Consult Uganda Ltd), and plays a role of vice president at Uganda Federation of American Football. Raymond has great experience in strategic management and planning .
