This project was implemented to address food insecurity and improve nutritional knowledge among Johnhill Secondary School students.
The project focused on training students in the four dimensions of food security: availability, access, utilization, and stability. It also covered the three dimensions of food insecurity: hunger, malnutrition, and poverty.
Through practical training in farming practices, gardening, nutritional practices, and food harvesting, the students were empowered to take action. A cooking demonstration emphasized food storage to prevent waste.
The project made a lasting impact on the community. The students were equipped with the knowledge and skills to promote food security and improve nutrition.
To sustain the project, two beneficiary students, Mary and Florence, formed a nutrition club to continue to educate their peers about food security, nutrition, and sustainable farming practices.
